Hello, TLC members and invited guests! We are excited about the TLC NYC conference for 2016 and have provided this document, which contains the necessary information you’ll need in order to:
Ø Make your hotel reservations
Ø Decide on what activities from the TLC NYC itinerary you will want to participate in
Ø Estimate your expenses for the weekend
Ø Be aware of any additional information pertaining to the TLC conference in 2016

Since we will be partnering with the Harlem Book Fair, our basic conference dates are
Friday, July 15 – Sunday, July 17, 2016.
Our group will be staying at The Westin New York at Times Square, 270 West 43rd Street,
New York, New York 10036. We have a block of rooms reserved for TLC members and
guests at the specially negotiated rate of $277.75 per night (double occupancy), which
includes all taxes and fees. We are recommending that you contact the hotel and make
your reservations ASAP. Please be sure to identify yourself as The Literary Club – TLC Room
Block when making your reservations to ensure that you receive the TLC rate. The hotel
will guarantee this special rate until June 1; reservations made after this date may not be
subject to the special TLC rate. Rooms can be booked either by phone or by using the

Due to the often fluctuating air fares, we are recommending that you book your flights
as soon as you are sure of your travel dates and feel that you have found reasonable
round-trip fares. It is suggested the better New York airport to use in your flight itinerary
is LaGuardia, however, that will be dependent on what will best fit your travel plans.
The following itinerary for the TLC conference is totally optional and voluntary, i.e.,
you may choose to do all, some or none of the activities listed. Keep in mind that for
those activities requiring advance payment (noted), you will need to make arrangements
for the payment(s) according to the instructions below:

Sunday – July 17, 2016
8:00AM – 9:00AM TLC Departing Prayer Service-Location TBD
11:00AM-1:00 PM Harlem Book Fair Closing Brunch (optional) $39.00

These events were planned and included so that we not only experience the well-attended and acclaimed Harlem Book Fair, but also to allow time for our members to get together socially…so, we hope you’ll want to “hang” with us—and still have time for shopping, etc!

$278 (hotel for 2 nights-double occupancy)
$10 (awards ceremony)
$250 (dinner and play)
$40 (book fair brunch or breakfast)
$50 (TLC conference registration fee-mandatory)
Not included: Dinner on Friday evening or breakfast on Saturday morning and air fare. (It
is estimated the total weekend costs—including meals and air fare—will be around $1,000.)
